Charles Wertz is the regional manager of WKS.[1] According to Steven Keaton, he's tough but fair in his job interviews.
In Say Uncle, Mr. Wertz interviews Ned Donnelly for a job as a program consultant, even though the interviews officially ended last week. Mr. Wertz is impressed by his resume. Unfortunately, Ned shows up drunk and makes a fool of himself, ruining his chances of being hired.
In Architect's Apprentice, Mr. Wertz votes for the sculpture Phoenix Arisen by Sandy McCann in the contest to choose a sculpture for WKS's new lobby.
In Keaton vs. Keaton, Mr. Wertz is one of the judges in the WKS Scholarship Contest, in which the child of a WKS employee is awarded a $2500 scholarship in independent study in any field. Mr. Wertz and the other judges originally give the scholarship to Alex P. Keaton for his presentation, which includes a 3D video of a dollar bill spinning at the audience. Alex withdraws, so the scholarship instead goes to Mallory Keaton for her line of comfortable, feminine clothing for the working woman.
