Eleanor Lee is Doug's wife. Doug woos her by walking backwards in front of her as he walked home from school, calling her "amore mio" and throwing flowers at her feet. Eleanor is confused, but starts going out with him anyway. Before long they're engaged. Because Alex P. Keaton refuses to be the best man at their wedding, Lyle becomes their best man instead. Eleanor goes to Alex's house to talk to him about the marriage. Alex says that he thinks Doug is too immature to get married. Eleanor tells Alex that she loves Doug and that he's hurt by Alex's rejection, but Alex is unconvinced. However, Alex changes his mind and arrives at Doug and Eleanor's wedding partway through. Doug replaces Lyle with Alex as his best man.
After the wedding, Doug and Eleanor move into an apartment together. Eleanor is wealthy enough to support both of them.
