"Father, Can You Spare a Dime?" is the twenty-eighth and final episode in the sixth season of the NBC family sitcom Family Ties. It originally aired on May 1, 1988, and is the hundred-and-fiftieth episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
Nick faces money struggles, but refuses to accept financial assistance from his estranged father. Meanwhile, Alex is on the look out for a used car bargain.
Plot[]
Andy is upset that Nick's art class at the Community Center is coming to an end. Nick wants to start an art school, so Alex takes him to the bank to try to get a loan. When that falls through, Mallory suggests he go to his father (played by Dan Hedaya) for the money.
