"Here We Go Again" is the second episode in the third season of the NBC family sitcom Family Ties. It originally aired on September 27, 1984, and is the forty-sixth episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
The Keatons are going camping, and Jennifer and Steven are much more excited than Alex and Mallory. Elyse isn't able to go because of her busy work schedule. She also is feeling ill although her doctor couldn't find anything wrong, until she calls saying Elyse is pregnant (and the only one she can share the news with is Skippy - "We're gonna have a baby!") The family deals with the news that Elyse is once again pregnant.
Plot[]
After Steven was looking forward to a weekend camping with the kids, only Jennifer volunteers to forgo urban comforts; Alex can't be bothered, and Mallory can't live without - well, her whole room's contents. Elyse stays home, as she's behind with work and feels miserable, though she just got a clean bill of health after a medical checkup. Skippy turns up, having been invited for dinner by wicked Mallory, and manages to stay for breakfast. Then Elyse's doctor calls with vital news she had presumed impossible; she is as thrilled as surprised, but isn't looking forward to telling Steven he's going to be a dad again. To make it even harder, the camping trip fell through in heavy rain due to Mallory chucking out the tent for her makeup table, so Steven's mood is thundery - yet he soon warms to the idea. Now the parents-to-be-again must tell the children, who have a dauntingly realistic view of the practical price they'll all pay and various objections, while none of them wants another sibling of the opposite sex.

Trivia[]
- Parts of this episode are used as flashbacks in both "The American Family" and "Wrap Around the Clock".
- Skippy's parents are in Dayton attending a symposium "Making the Most of Your Twilight Years", so he's home alone and visits Elyse for lunch. Something similar happens with Skippy and Steven in "Lost Weekend".
- Elyse and Steven recall all the kids' shows they'll have to start watching again: Sesame Street, Romper Room, and Mister Rogers.
- Elyse also plays the too-busy mom in "Elyse D'Arc" and "Super Mom".
- Alex buys a stuffed tiger for the baby, and when Elyse pulls the string, it says, "I love Alex." (Sort of a foreshadow to Andrew in Seasons 5-7).
- Alex breaks out in a little "We're in the Money", when Elyse tries to get him to remember "I'm a Little Teapot" (which creates a funny situation in the kitchen).
