"Mr. Right" is the eighth episode in the fourth season of the NBC family sitcom Family Ties. It originally aired on November 21, 1985, and is the seventy-sixth episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
Nick is worried that the constant disapproval he receives from Elyse and Steven will ultimately cost him his relationship with Mallory. Eager to change, Nick turns to Alex for help. Unfortunately, Nick turns into another "Alex," and while he is now pleasing to Elyse and Steven, he turns off Mallory.
Plot[]
Nick recognizes that he needs to fit in better with the Keaton family. He goes to Alex for advice on how to do this. Alex suggests that Nick start to look and act exactly like Alex. And so Nick changes the way he talks and shows up dressed in a jacket and tie. Steven is very much in favor of the "new Nick". Mallory, however, feels neglected by her changed boyfriend.
