"Mr. Wrong" is the third episode in the fourth season of the NBC family sitcom Family Ties. It originally aired on October 17, 1985, and is the seventy-first episode of the series overall.

Synopsis[]

The Keatons are stunned when they finally meet Mallory's boyfriend, Nick. They soon realise that they need to trust their daughter and allow her to make her own decisions.

Plot[]

Mallory brings home a new boyfriend, Nick Moore, an environmental artist. The family reacts less than positively toward him. Steven forbids Mallory from seeing Nick. Then as a compromise, Steven and Elyse invite Nick to dinner to try to get to know him better.

  • Parts of this episode are used as flashbacks in both "Battle of the Sexes" and "The American Family".
  • Steven twice compares Nick to Rambo.
  • Perhaps as part of a haul of garbage, Nick wears a "Monty Python's Flying Circus" T-shirt (with sleeves torn off).
