Professor Spanos used to teach a microeconomics course at Yale. He met his wife when she took his class. He gave her an A on the final exam, after which they got married. He now wishes he'd flunked her.
On the series[]
Every year, Professor Spanos picks three of his top students to teach the freshman economics course. Alex P. Keaton is one of the students picked. After Alex has a dispute with Ellen Reed over Alex's teaching methods, Professor Spanos meets the two of them after class. He accuses Alex of bad judgment, but Ellen tells Professor Spanos that Alex is a wonderful teacher who can make a boring subject like Economics seem interesting. Professor Spanos tells the story of how he met his wife and tells Alex that he was too harsh in giving Ellen a C-, even though her work was sloppy.
